Key Responsibilities

  • Create engaging 2D animations for 30-second educational science videos that connect scientific discoveries to everyday life
  • Source relevant stock video footage to demonstrate real-life concepts and connections
  • Develop visual assets that can be adapted across multiple platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, website)
  • Collaborate with script writers and researchers to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, visually compelling stories
  • Design animated graphics, diagrams, and illustrations that enhance understanding while maintaining scientific accuracy

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with motion graphics and explainer video styles
  • Familiarity with short-form social media content formats

Key Responsibilities

  • Write SEO-optimized blog posts (800-1,500 words) that answer common “everyday science” questions using long-tail keywords
  • Transform complex scientific concepts into relatable, accessible content that connects science to readers’ daily experiences
  • Research and fact-check all content using credible scientific sources, maintaining SciMatters’ commitment to accuracy and transparency
  • Adapt video scripts into written content or expand on topics mentioned in videos
  • Structure articles with clear headings, smooth flow, and internal links to other relevant SciMatters content
  • Incorporate storytelling techniques that humanize the scientific process and the people behind discoveries
  • Suggest future content topics

Preferred Skills

  • Background in science, science communication, or journalism
  • Experience with content management systems (WordPress or similar)
  • Understanding of how to cite and attribute scientific sources properly

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and create engaging content across multiple platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) tailored to each platform’s unique culture and audience
  • Re-purpose full-length videos into micro-assets including short clips, quote graphics, animated GIFs, and platform-specific formats
  • Actively engage with the community by responding to comments, answering questions, and fostering meaningful dialogue that builds trust
  • Monitor trending topics and conversations to identify opportunities for SciMatters to contribute to relevant discussions
  • Schedule and publish content consistently according to the platform strategy calendar
  • Track engagement metrics and provide insights on what content resonates with different audiences

Preferred Skills

  • Experience managing social media accounts for organizations or brands
  • Basic graphic design or video editing skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
  • Understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics

  • Translate complex scientific concepts into clear, relatable narratives without oversimplifying or sacrificing accuracy
